This Is What It’s All About

—oOo—

A Course in Miracles  introduces the radical idea that Man’s function is that of  “co-creator with God,” clearly expressing the idea that God and Man are inseparable, are indeed One, and yet somehow discrete, one from the other.

The question is, in practical terms, what does this mean?

It means that Creation is the divine capacity of Mind to reflect back upon Itself, causing the experience of Self-Awareness. It can only be described as a co-creative process  which requires the total freedom of Free Will . . . and is inseparable from you as the Conscious Experience of Being.

Why is this important? Because it is hard to relate to what it means, and yet it is a central point in A Course in Miracles. It is important because it seems to be a spiritual theory, instead of something which everyone is daily suffering from the ignorance of.

Just sit with that for a moment.

Why is it important? Because even though it is a central point in A Course in Miracles, it is hard to relate to what it means. It is important because it seems to be a spiritual theory, instead of something which everyone is daily suffering from the ignorance of and therefore requires attention.

So, here’s the way it works:

When Free Will is absent, co-creation is impossible. In It’s place is pure, unadulterated narcissism: The addictive preoccupation  with “oneself” which is mistakenly believed to be the only meaning there is of “selfhood.” And this tiny, exclusiveness is what The Fall was all about!

In Biblical terms, the Fall occurred when two joined together in an act of independence from His and Her Source, becoming preoccupied with a new-found tiny sense of “self.” And, in the insecurity of this  now-ungrounded frame of mind, they inadvertently became consumed by guilt and fear, suddenly becoming defended and at odds with everything—including the ones with whom they had joined in getting the divorce from God—each other!

This was an illegitimate and artificial imposition upon the Holy Sons and Daughters of God that never really happened, and is a constant call for correction. This is why it is so important.

You see?

Now, here is the truth!

It is an absolute fact that co-operation (which is the correction to the imposition), can only occur in the environment of Free Will. Co-operation is another word for co-creation. And it is inseparable from omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience—the indivisible singularities of That which is All-Knowing, All-Presence, and All-Wise. God being All.

Be alert now for the lingering influence of memory. Everyone is conditioned to interpret what I’m sharing as the provision of new learning materials—data, facts, tools—for coming to new conclusions, decisions and actions in the world.

I’m not!

I am inviting the shift of Attention from those overt actions of mind to the subtler, more profound nature of experience! And this is the critical point!

I am not talking about facts to be learned, memorized, and incorporated into a body of “understanding” which will be useful in controlling life better. Indeed, even though A Course in Miracles is identified as an educational document, it is not about facts with which to modernize one’s mind, and therefore his life.

No!

It’s about learning to pay Attention!

As an experience, it can be put this way: How many times have you lost something and searched and searched for it, only to finally give up, stop looking for it, and suddenly realize that you’re looking right at it and hadn’t seen it? You might even have involuntarily blurted out, “Oh, my God! There it is!”

Likewise, it’s not inconsequential that the description of Creation in the first chapter of the Bible does not  say that “God saw everything that He had made and . . . ho-hum . . . it was okay.”

No!

It says, “God saw everything that He had made, and BEHOLD!  It was VERY GOOD.”

Creation is a Beholding! A Discovery! And therefore co-creation is that same Beholding.  That same Discovery!

But how?

In consonance with the statement, “God is my strength. Vision is His gift to me,” yesterday’s Lesson states:

“Above all else, I want to see.”

And then today’s Lesson illuminates it further:

“Above all else,

I want to see things

differently.”

Indeed! A shift of Attention! A willing  abandonment of whatever you have been conditioned to see.

And then tomorrow’s Lesson #29:

“God is in everything I see.”

“The idea for today explains why you can see all purpose in anything. It explains why nothing is separate, by itself or in itself. And it explains why nothing you see means anything. In fact, it explains every idea we have used thus far, and al subsequent ones as well. Today’s idea is the whole basis for vision.

“You will probably find this idea very difficult to grasp at this point. You may find it silly, irreverent, senseless, funny and even objectionable. Certainly God is not in a table, for example, as you see it. Yet we emphasized yesterday that a table shares the purpose of the universe. And what shares the purpose of the universe shares the purpose of its Creator.

“Try then, today, to begin to learn how to look on all things with love, appreciation and open-mindedness. You do not see them now. Would you know what is in them? Nothing is as it appears to you. Its holy purpose stands beyond your little range. When vision has shown you the holiness that lights up the world, you will understand today’s idea perfectly. And you will not understand how you could ever have found it difficult.”

[My underlining]

Yes! When the experience  of Vision is had, when the A-ha! occurs, when the light bulb of recognition illuminates your Being and holiness  is experienced, Love is experienced, instead of words and definitions and things, you will be experiencing the Atonement. You will be experiencing It right here in the world that has been lit up by holiness . . . not as the result of the rehearsal or application of positive thinking, but in the innocence of humble, quiet but vibrant Attention—the bringing of curiosity into play, rather than doubt or  confidence.

This is what it’s all about!

Hi Raj, is the whole practice of a
