Subject: thread sorting

hello ... in here (??)

i'm sure i heard chris and sandra discussing this some where earlier ...but now that i've got my own experience of almost missing a reply, then replying and having to send an 'inbox' message to alert the poster, because i haven't been checking previous pages ...

... i'd like you to consider the benefit of sorting  threads by last activity date rather than by creation date as it seems to be now.

if i remember correctly, by activity date was the way it was initially set up, right?

like you didn't have more important things to address, eh, chris no hurry ... i'm okay also with checking back pages if need be.

thanks for everything! -- om

I'm totally about sorting it by last activity, but I'm sure there are those it will confuse when they see it out of order.. I'll go ahead and start a poll for this as you have now experienced the threads being posted to on a back page is hard to catch.

I also have increased the number of threads per page value. So now we show double the number of threads per page than we did before. This might help the sorting issue also.

Hey Chris and Orinda,

I have been meaning to make a post about this subject.  I have been clicking on Recent under Threads and I THINK that brings up every thread that has had a post since I last logged on.

However, I am not sure and I was going to ask if this is right.

Thanks,

V

I haven't used those buttons, but it seems that's exactly what they're good for!!! Excellent.. so do you guys agree then that we should keep them sorted by post date instead of by last activity?? I'm now thinking we should keep it the way it is now so that non-tech-savvy users don't get confused by the thread oder always being different.

I don't have a darn clue which button to press....recent, today, whatever! I just click on all of them and see what pops up. Doing triple the work, no doubt. And even when I click on the same button sometimes, I get a different view of the postings! Just like even in this post writing......sometimes when I click on "ADDRESS <ADDR> Times New Roman, it goes to the next line when I hit Enter. But sometimes it skips a line!
