good morning trish~

from my understanding . . . the spirit is existential while the soul is experiential. the "distance" between pure spirit and the individuality in incarnation is great . . . almost so much that God cannot recognize what we are as ego. the soul is in a way . . .  the living bridge between aspects of consciousness.

as we begin to awaken and seek the divine . . . the connection is made with the soul.  as we persevere in deepening that relationship . . . more and more of our consciousness  becomes centered in the soul . . . where we come close enough to God so that He can recognize us and  bridge the remaining gap Himself.

in broader terms . . .  it is in a way like the difference between the nightmare . . . the happy dream . . . and salvation. the happy dream becomes the vehicle that moves us close enough to what God would have us BE . . . that He is able to pull us the rest of the way through to Reality.

another definition for soul consciousness according to the esoteric teachings is "Christ consciousness". so the soul is that living blend of our human with our divine . . . a fusion of the spirit in matter . . .. or the pure Light redeeming the dense light.  it IS the Son . . . the Christ.. . . and through the Christ in us . . . we know the Father through this living relationship of willed alignment with what God is BEing. . . . it is the work of embodying divinity which is meant to be our joy.
