When you have the default set to "nested" does that mean that the newest posts (replies) always get pushed to the top of the page? If so, in my opinion (which is fairly strong on this particular sorting feature), is that it sucks. Ancient posts popping up to the top of the list is confusing.  Is that what is happening now on the board?

yuck, puke, crapola...oh, did I mention it's not my fav?

Would this be considered 'influencing people'? hahahahahaha

hehehe, okay, so yes... you are very observant. Right now the forum is set to bring the most recent thread to the top. I shall change it to the way everyone remembers it from the old forum.

Thanks for the feedback

Chris: for the umpteenth time, PLEASE, unscribe notifications of threads from my mailbox. I get so many, and I don't need them as I log on to TGP without them...it makes for a lot of deleting, on 2 levels, and it seems my comp is slower, tho this may not be the cause for that.

I'd really like to say I'm enjoying this "newy" but I'm not, so far.

Hi BJ,

You can do this yourself.  Once logged in, go to the upper right brown buttons and click on settings.  Then click on the link for Edit Profile.

Once in there you can disable all the notices.  There are two places, one for thread update notices and one for private email notices.  Also when you post, make sure that you are not checking the box just below where you post that says Notify you whenever this thread is updated.

I just noticed another place that might be causing the problem.  Go again to the setting button, instead of clicking on Edit Profile go down a little more.  There is a link for deleting you from the subscriptions.  I had that on another message board and got WAY too many emails.  Maybe that is why you are getting too many.

That should help.

Have fun,

Love,

V

Here are the steps I used to unsubscribe you from "Receive e-mail notifications for all new messages in a forum:". Please walk through the steps I outlined below so that you can become more familier with this feature of your profile. Thank you.

Logon using your username and password.

Go into your Profile Settings area by clicking on the "Settings" button.

Click on the "Mass subscribe/unsubscribe to forums" link.

Notice the list of forums that you can subscribe to "Receive e-mail notifications for all new messages in a forum:".

You had "TGP - The Gathering Place" check-marked to "Receive e-mail notifications for all new messages in a forum:". This is what was causing your email box to fill with every message being posted to that forum.

Uncheck "TGP - The Gathering Place" so that you wouldn't "Receive e-mail notifications for all new messages in a forum:".

Hit the Submit button.

You shouldn't "Receive e-mail notifications for all new messages in a forum:" anymore as you don't have that forum checked any longer.

Thank you for helping me teach you how to fish, even though you got your first fish for free.
