If we remove the stigma associated with the 'ego' and think of it as a tool for dealing with the third dimension, while at the same time acknowledging and experiencing complete communion with Spirit (use whatever term fits you), the ego mind could change without destruction. As Tolle exhorts...pick up the egoic mind for whatever task it is called for in the physical world and as soon as the task is completed, place the egoic mind to the side and be whatever "awakened" means to you. As the Course states, it is a mind training manual... and I certainly can't deny the ego is in deep need of training. Discipline...to know it's place.
