February 7th, 1982

—oOo—

On February 7th, 1982, Paul had his first conversation with me. It marked what became a forever change in his life . . . abrupt, awkward, demanding and difficult. That conversation began as follows, when Paul said . . .

“I want to talk to my Guide. I need help, understanding, comprehension of the situation I appear to be caught in, and I would be very grateful to make contact and learn what it is in my experience that needs to be seen in order to resolve some things.”

“Would you please identify yourself to me?”

And I responded by saying . . .

“My name is Rajpur. I have been waiting for your desire to speak, I’ve been aware of your requests in the recent past, but have had to await the proper timing before making myself known to you.”

To which he responded . . .

“Am I making you up? Am I making up the words?”

My answer . . .

“Yes and no. I am not speaking directly with you. I am, you might say, speaking to you in meanings without language. If I were to communicate with someone in India they would hear me in their language, and yet I would not be speaking to them in any language at all, just meanings.”

“The more you become integrated with your experience through the technique you are now using, the more accurate will be your “translation” and the more easily it will flow. Right now, my meanings are flowing fluidly, but the fact that your typewriter is stuttering is due to your awkwardness and lack of experience in communication on this level of consciousness.”

“You are also going to have to do this as often as you can in order to be comfortable with it, and in order to give yourself a chance to overcome your doubt that you are communicating with me and not making this up out of whole cloth yourself.”

At that time in his life, being a so-called self-sufficient adult” . . . or at least one who had been groomed to be one . . . with a wife and three children to support . . . he had unexpectedly found himself faced with the loss of his job and the resulting inability to fulfill his responsibilities.

But for Paul, to be out of control was not tolerable. To have to be fluid, responsive, flexible, able and willing to change—really change—without planning for it, was the height of irresponsibility, instability and the evidence of being ungrounded. It was the absence of all that spoke to his credibility and respectability.

Mind you, this is the way he perceived the situation—meaning that this is the way he had been conditioned to see it.

It wasn’t true, of course. But no one automatically values what he hasn’t been taught to value. That’s what schools of higher learning, religion, good parenting, and advanced cultures—as well as dictatorships, fear, ignorance, doubt and righteousness—provide and reinforce.  One might say it’s part of the “human condition” when it’s only mental manipulation—conditioned thinking!

In this first conversation, Paul also asked:

“Are you assigned to me or something?”

And I explained . . .

“It is a Self-appointed task or endeavor, which is borne out of my need to further my own eternal development. We have been matched naturally by virtue of the way in which our energy patterns complement each other. Where you are weak I am strong, and your weakness brings into play in me a broadening and refining of my strength in textures and patterns and tones and colours which you will come to understand as your own consciousness becomes refined.”

“My relationship with you is evolved out of Love in Its broadest sense or meanings. You must be aware that the words which you apply to the meanings I am communicating are inherently incapable of capturing the nondimensional nature of what I am saying. I will do my best to help bring out the breadth and depth of what they imply, but you must remember that there will be two reasons ever present in our communications for incorrect translation of my meanings—the size of your vocabulary and the degree to which you have refined your energies.”

“Inaccuracies in your perceptions of my meanings will become apparent to me as we communicate. I will work with you to bring out their higher meanings as we go along.”

The severity of that situation, together with the unyielding demand for taking care of his family, forced him to reach beyond his personal capacity, which was failing him.

Having recently heard about spirit guides, he reached out. But in doing so, he included in his invitation a proviso. That being that he was listening only for that which was in harmony with the Christ consciousness.

Even with this “safeguard” in place, he was engaging in an activity which, to him, was questionable . . . even though it provided the absence of willfulness (the presence of the holy instant) necessary for the Holy Spirit or me to respond—something he had no way of knowing about beforehand.

As I have shared before, Paul daily sat, meditated, and then in the silence reached out to “whoever” might respond . . . hands poised over his typewriter keys in case he heard anything. And then, on February 7th it happened.

I am not only sharing this because today is once again February 7th—meaningful to Paul—but because the abandonment of self-sufficiency, autonomy, “self”-ishness, privacy and arrogance, is the choice for Awakening that awaits everyone.  It is Awakening which arises out of . . . and into . . . Love, in infinite aspects of Unity, Harmony and indivisible fulfillment. In other words, Wholeness, Brotherhood, and co-Creation.

It begins the moment one “gives up”—in the moment of either desperation or willing co-operation with something other than one’s own self-confident competence.

February 7th, 1982 was Paul’s moment . . . although Paul would say that it has turned into an eternal moment, an unending “instant” of yielding, yielding, yielding—a “now” that has no conclusion.

Indeed, it is beginning to become clear that giving voice to the Voice for Truth is NOT a means to an end—it is not leading to an event in the future—but is the Meaning of Now which he might as well engage, instead of doing it in order to get to the moment when he won’t have to do it any longer!

I am telling him, right now, along with everyone else, that as long as being the presence of Truth, being the presence of Love, is seen as an effort—as labor—there is a grievance present, coloring the eternal instant, and Love, which rests in action, not labor, is obscured. Peace is overlooked and the joy of co-creation is yet to be beheld.

Any moment is the “acceptable moment” to Awaken. Here and now is where it will happen. I am standing here. The Holy Spirit is standing here. You, in your right Mind are standing here.

The words of the song below say it all . . . and the name of the song just happens to be, “February Seven.”

Enjoy!
